It's common practice in Elementary school to setup Marks to be Non-cumulative. Each marking period is independent of the other one. The marks do not carry over from one marking period to the next one.
If an Elementary school needs to setup the marks to be cumulative (similar to Secondary schools) follow these steps:
- Go to the board level
- Select Setup > Marks & Comments
- Select Achievement Profiles
- Select the achievement profile for the class to change and click Edit
- Select the option for Cumulative markbooks option
- Click Save
