Import Profile Maintenance Header and Trailer Configuration
GOAL: To provide an overview of the different use cases for Headers and Trailers in the context of using Import Profile Maintenance for Timesheets and Absences.
Boards have the option of 3 different methods of Header and Trailer uses in configuring Import Profiles.
- Specific Header + Trailer
- Use Record String to define specific text for reach
- Generic Header + Trailer
- Use Column Names as Headers
- No Header + Trailer
- Raw, ordered data only
SPECIFIC HEADER + TRAILER
BOARD CONTROL > GENERAL TABLES > IMPORT PROFILE MAINTENANCE
**Note Header & Trailer = Y with Header & Trailer Strings defined**
IMPORT FILE:
**Header and Trailer read exactly as defined under Header/Trailer Record String**
NOTE: It is important to remember that if Delimiter = TAB, then spaces in your Record Strings should be keyed as TAB (in between each word)
GENERIC HEADER + TRAILER
BOARD CONTROL > GENERAL TABLES > IMPORT PROFILE MAINTENANCE
**Header & Trailer = Y with Header & Trailer Strings = null**
IMPORT FILE:
**Column Names become the Header in this case**
Note: There are no Header or Trailer Strings in this case.
NO HEADER + TRAILER
BOARD CONTROL > GENERAL TABLES > IMPORT PROFILE MAINTENANCE
**Header & Trailer = N with Header & Trailer Strings = null **
IMPORT FILE:
**No Header or Trailer records at all**
