The ministry has been collecting data on Student Special Incident Portion (SIP) outside of OnSIS. As part of the Special Education Fund of the Core Education Fund, the SIP component is intended to support students with extraordinarily high needs who require additional staff to address their needs.
Beginning academic year 2026-2027, SIP data will be collected through OnSIS. A ‘High Complex Special Education Needs’ flag will be added under the Special Education section of each student for public elementary and secondary schools.
To select this information go to the students, record – Special education – File details click the edit pencil – click the box High Complex Special Education Needs – SAVE changes.
